Crooked or crowded teeth can alter the effectiveness of your bite and are more susceptible to tooth decay. Teeth that stick out can be tougher to clean, and they can affect your confidence and look. Orthodontics are designed to improve your smile by straightening teeth that are out of line.
Orthodontic treatment straightens teeth that require it. Over time, this can help your teeth work properly, ensuring that you have an aligned, effective bite. This is achieved by applying gentle pressure to the teeth. After an allotted amount of time, this pressure can reset your teeth to a more comfortable, desirable position. The end result will be teeth that can chew more effectively without experiencing as much wear and erosion.
Traditional Metal Braces
Metal braces are a proven form of orthodontic treatment. Metal braces, or brackets, are glued to teeth that require realignment. A wire is fed through these brackets and is then tightened. This tightening creates the pressure that is required to move your teeth into place. Some discomfort can occur, but our dentists will monitor your braces and ensure that they are as comfortable as possible. When they are removed, a whole new smile will be waiting for you!
Invisalign®
Invisalign® is a brand-name orthodontic treatment that is offered as an alternative to traditional metal braces. Invisalign® is intended to be more comfortable and less noticeable than braces. If used properly, Invisalign® can create the exact smile that you and your dentist agree upon.
Invisalign® are teeth aligners that are see-through. They are made of a specialized, hardened resin that creates a mould that can be affixed and removed by the patient.
Using a 3D scan or a plaster mould, our dentists can determine the exact alignment that is necessary for your smile. You choose the movements of your teeth alongside your dentist, ensuring that you get the look that you want, with the most comfortable mould possible. You can preview how your teeth will look at the end of your treatment. It's a procedure designed just for you!
Next, you will receive your custom-made aligner, made of clear plastic that is very hard to spot. This aligner will move your teeth horizontally, vertically, or it may even rotate them if this is required. You will wear Invisalign® for about 20 hours of the day. They are more comfortable than other orthodontic treatments, and they are easy to remove and put in. When your treatment is finished, you will have a brand new look smiling back at you!
